The Beach Makes Me Happy

So, I know I’ve been an awful blogger lately.  Life has been crazy.  I have a few days right now before I may or may not be heading to Central Pennsylvania for a week.  It’s all still up in the air right now.

Life will calm down eventually; August is always really hectic for me.  I’ll get back to posting more and reading more soon.  I promise!

My friend Rachel left yesterday.  She was here for four days, all of which we spent at a different beach.  Well, we went to Wildwood twice, but whatever.  Just know that I spent the past four days at the beach.

If you know me, you know this is exciting.  The beach makes me happy; being close to large bodies of water makes me happy.  My feet were meant to be in the sand.

Also, I have some pretty sweet flip flop tan lines.

Saturday (and Monday) we went to Wildwood.  It’s about 1 hour and 15 minutes from my house… although it took much longer on Saturday.  Shore traffic on the weekends is so awful.  We had fun there both days, though, especially since they have an amazing boardwalk.

I take a photo like this, next to the lifeguard boat, at every beach.  I have a collection.

This was taken Monday. Daniel was not with us Saturday or Sunday.

Sunday, we ventured to Atlantic City (a 45 minute drive).  The beach was so empty.  It usually is; people go there to gamble, not swim.  I tried the whole casino thing once, and it’s not my scene.  I still love the beach there, though.  The boardwalk is pretty amazing as well.

It was WINDY that day, though.  Our blanket and such was covered with sand in a matter of minutes, and our umbrella kept flipping inside out.  It made for some amazing waves, though!

It was a beautiful day.

Daniel did not accompany us this day.

I took my nice camera and got some photos of the kids.  Rachel has two, a 8 year old daughter and a son that just turned 1 today.

He is pretty adorable.

Trinity and Natalia

I love this one of the girls. Please note that mine (on the left) is 4 years older. I make small babies.

We were back at Wildwood on Monday, and by time we left, I was pretty sunburned.  The sun is not my friend.  I burn way too easily.  I used SPF 50 Sport sunscreen, which I reapplied every hour.  Yeah.  I was still purple by the end of the day.

I sucked it up and went to Ocean City (a 1 hour drive) on Tuesday.  It was my first time ever venturing there, and I wasn’t too impressed.  The boardwalk was pretty amazing, so it gets points for that.  The beach was waaaay too crowded, especially for a Tuesday.  There were too many crushed up seashells; it hurt to walk.  The waves were pretty amazing, but that didn’t make it worth it.  I just was not impressed.  Parking was free, but you needed to purchase a beach tag.  So, the cost evened out.  I just… I don’t know.  I’d probably never go back there for the beach, only the boardwalk.

See how crowded it was??

I had made some cupcakes (Boxed Funfetti, nothing exciting) for Kaisen since it was their last day there.  Rachel wanted to have a little party for him on the beach.  He smooshed the crap out of that cupcake and ate more sand that should be healthy.  He had fun, though, and that’s all that mattered.

Happy birthday little guy!!

I feel like I’ll be cleaning sand out of my house and car for the next year, when I’ll fill them back up again.

That basically catches you up.  Like I said, I may be going out of town for the next week, but there are several reasons this might not happen.  I’ll figure it out tomorrow, I guess.

Speaking of tomorrow, I’m meeting up with Megan to just hang out, have a few drinks, and basically have a bitchfest.  It is much needed, and I feel like I haven’t seen her in forever!

Anyway, I apologize again for sucking at this whole blog thing.  I’ll get better once summer is over.  Although that thought makes me sad.

Oh!  I almost forgot!  I was nominated for The Versatile Blogger Award by Paloma at Going Bananas.  Go read her blog; I promise you won’t regret it.  She’s seriously wise beyond her years and is a much, much better writer than I am.

Now I’m done.

  1. Pam,
I think everyone experiences life interference in blogging & reading. It’s supposed to be a fun and enjoyable thing to do, not an obligation to work yourself up into guilt over not doing well or correctly. I for one, am a bit grateful at not having a huge amount of reading to catch up with on your blog. I appreciate your easy, conversational way of writing and posting. I also love how yoi use your photos to show and illustrate your writing.

Paloma is wonderful. Somehow she found me and I think I may have been her first follower from the blogosphere. So glad she awarded you. Speaking of catching up, I need to visit her.

Good luck with the Pennsylvania triP.

    Be well,

I’m rubbing my eyes out of total disbelief! Two of the three bloggers I hold in the highest of regards are praising me! Is it true? Hahaha. Isn’t it rather funny how we all end up wanting exactly what we don’t have? I’ve always wanted to be peaceful and compassionate like Kina and an innovative, ingenious cook like you, Pam! Thank you both for your kind words. This has given me a lot to think about.

I guess it is true: The grass is always greener. I’m sure if we each had the traits we admired in the others, we’d be wanting our old traits back. I guess we just need to learn how to be happy with who we are… which is awesome. All of us are awesome 😀

I second that motion! *obviously still in MUN-mode*

      • Paloma,
It is very interesting to know how you perceive me. Not sure that I would identify myself as “peaceful” although I do tend to play peacemaker a lot. lol. I think it is important that you know that your voice and what you have to say in the world is valuable and important.

        Be well,

Thanks for your kind words. I just have anxiety that I’m letting everyone down by not reading/commenting as often as I normally do. My life will get back to normal soon; August is always crazy busy for me!

  2. Wow! your daughter is tiny Or, the other little girl is a giant which I suspect is not the case. I love the documentation by the beach signs! Those will be great to track growth – and age for you! 🙂 I’ve only been to the beach a few times but you look like you have a great time there!

I think it’s a mixture of Trinity being small and Natalia being bigger than average. I’d say they meet in the middle and are both the size of an average 10 year old, haha.

Thanks! I like anyplace that is close to water, so the beach is one of my all time favorite places. I’ve been known to go in the winter just to watch the waves ❤
